For all those participants that had traveled to events throughout the past twelve years and have shared those great times,
I applaud you. It's all about the camaraderie and racing at it's finest. This has been the best part of organizing and promoting
these events for myself, the promoters, sponsors and riders. We have helped each other and had surpassed each and every
years return record numbers of riders and spectators alike. With that has come a larger amount of incentives to keep spreading
the good word, “Come Feel The Thump”.
After all, we are the original series that started the growth of 4-Stroke Motocross in the year 1996. S
o, if you had never been
out to see an awesome Western 4-Stroke National Motocross race, or for that matter "HEAR" a thunderous Western 4-Stroke National
Motocross event take place, you have other opportunities. There had been events in Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, California,
Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Nevada and Washington. $10,000 dollars in cash were up for grabs over the weekends with the main races at
12:00 PM and 2:30 PM.
All amateur 2-Stroke and 4-Stroke races started at 10:00 AM, and they did not miss the chance to see the best of the best professional
motocross racers from across the country and abroad.
In the year 2006 marked the first time a professional rider had won both the 250F Pro
and the Premier Pro classes respectively. Brain Gray from Florida surprised many, as well as Northwest's own hero and Two-Time W4SN National
Champion Mike Corder from Rainer, Oregon, Idaho’s own Kyle Kubitschek and Alaska’s Jerry Lymburner graced the podium many times.
Then last year in 2007, an Oregonian matched the same task as Brian Gray. Adam Metzler also took both Championships in the 250F Pro and
Premier Pro classes, congratulations Adam!
The series began in 1996, following the closure of the 500 Motocross Nationals. There is no comparable arena for riders to get this level of
competition in the Pro ranks. To say the series has been a success is an understatement. We are breaking records and giving a chance for
greater competition for all, not the factory paid Pro’s, but to some of the closest riders I can call my friends.
Stats: 1996 through 1998 drew an annual average 160-180 Premier Pro riders in eight events per year. Then, the birth of the Yamaha YZ400F
in the market in 1999 extraordinary gains took place in riders and thus, more media exposure. Twelve events were run in 2000 and 2001, which
brought 354 Pro entries, averaging 31 Premier Pro's per event.
Since more 4-Stroke Motocross (copy–cats) events were being born, agreements between the committed Pro riders, sponsors and manufactures
came to pass. The series had been scaled down, making it more economical for everyone, still providing two prestigious classifications, the W4SN
250F Pro and Premier Pro Championships. The word
was out and had flooded across the United States and abroad. To believe, that we started
averaging 60 Professional riders per race, qualifiers as well gives W4SN and promoters a sense of a job well done. The increase in rider participation
has been huge with the birth of all manufactures building 4-Stroke motocrossers. The amateur turnouts were great and they are the future stars of our
sport. I have compiled a list of those who have had the pleasure of competing in these events and are listed below…AMAZING.
W4SN has been proud to have kept it all going and achieved a status quo with your support. Promoters had agreed posting and providing a
minimum of $7,000 Purse for the Premier Pro class, per event with pay back down to 20th place per moto and each promoter contributing another
$1000 towards the “W4SN Riders Points Fund” for that classification ONLY. This was designed for the Premier Pro riders who finished in 20th or better
in the “W4SN Riders Points Fund System” and followed 80% of the races.
Riders Points Fund system is different from the Daily Points system. We gave points to all 40 riders who made the main motos. Daily Points had been
the same in the past- per moto - 25 points earned for 1st, 22 for 2nd, 20 points for 3rd, 4th = 18, 5th = 16 then 1 point decreasing increments down,
example 6th place = 15 points down to 1
point for 20th. “Riders Points Fund System”, went like this, 1st place in a moto earns 45 points, 2nd=42 points,
3rd=40 points, 4th=38, 5th=36 points then 1 point decreasing increments down, example 6th place = 35 down to 1 point for 40th.
My special appreciation goes out to the people that have provided an incredible amount of work behind the scenes to produce these events.
The efforts are largely volunteer, with benefits of travel and some monetary dollars too. Truly, the names are endless to thank for their support.
In specific, special thanks goes out to my son Guy Stefan Schneider, Jennifer Madsen, Max Madsen, Mitch Kirkpatrick, Kevin Hines, Brian Barnes,
Cole Watson, Devin Watson, Crystal May, Roger Sherrell, Dewey Jurkiewicz, Dorina “Groves” Clarke, Andy Kalz, Jill Sannan and a special thank you
to the banner crews, track promoters, especially Dan Matthews and event announcers Brian Barnes, Mark “The Mile High Mouth” Woodward,
Dave Brosius, Robert VanDamme, Rob Comstock, Hal Sanguinetti, Mike and Pat Dougherty, Terry Boyd of Supercross Fame and radio announcer
here in Portland, Oregon, Mike Stoveken, Mark Moore, Tom White, Kevin Kelly, Jason Weigandt and to Blake Hughes of DirtBikeTV.com for the videos
online and to Bob Davis of MotocrossLive.com for the great webcasts as well as to Toby Sheets from IMXR.com for your webcast work.
So until the Western 4-Stroke National Thumpers are back on the line, when everything really changed, the 30 second board moved sideways,
the air moves briskly, why? Because it just did, you would see and hear it for yourself. Have fun, tell your friends about what you witnessed, there
and then. The original Western 4-Stroke motocross show, “Bring it on”.
Well, folks, the ground pounding mayhem is out there in several other venues. All of the training and preparation in regards to the riders are
showcased there. It's all about the incredible, head turning, heart racing, soul satisfying and gut level thump that makes it all worth while. The 4-Stroke
beasts are still on the line “revving up and up”. Building to that awesome roar to when the gates drops, the race is on.
Rubber is laid down on the concrete starting pad as the tires heat up. The dirt is soon churned into the sky, front wheels off the ground, every heart
is pounding for spectators and racers alike. It truly is all about what happens next! Racing as exciting as ONLY a 4-Stroke, talent deep, competitive field
of committed and dedicated racers can bring you. From the racers, mechanics, promoters and myself, to the fans that have “Witnessed The Storm
there
is no other family oriented sport that will give you what you got here, none!  Guaranteed. The show of shows was more than incredible.
